August is the official Star Wars film release date and it’s a great time to get into the theme parks. Disney has several Star Wars themed areas including the Hollywood Studios and California Adventure. But there’s one more place you should visit during this period – the world of Lightsyear. This is the second planet from the star cluster known as the Halley’s Planet. We’ve got a lot to see in this fantastic new world and we’ve got some hints about what to do and where to go.
In front of the Disney Park is the lightshow that showcases all the thrills and chills of the latest Star Wars adventure. You can go inside and have fun with the cast while watching the light show. All throughout the park you will find amazing display of lights, sounds and special effects. The first Star Wars attraction that welcomes you is the Adventures of Lightyear. Here you’ll travel through a wormhole and discover how the Force comes to Earth.
Then head deeper into the Lightyear World to discover the origins of the lighter creatures. While you’re here, you will also meet the friendly Klingons. At the end of the day it’s back to the light show at Hollywood Studios and if you’re lucky enough you’ll even get the chance to meet the evil Galactic Empire. While you’re in the park, you may want to take a look at the Toy Story Lightyear Playhouse.
Here you will find all of the different Toy Story characters in their own light up glory. To top it off there is a parade that goes through the park. You can participate by riding in a light-up car or by taking a stroll through the Lightyear Diner. After all of this, why not join in for the movie presentation?
There are two ways to do so. First is with a specially built podium; the set is constructed to look like the Death Star in the movie. If you haven’t guessed it yet, this is where your children can meet the famous Princess Leia and her trusty android assistant, Luke Skywalker. The second method is to just walk through the front door and see what all the excitement is about. That way you will have a firsthand look at the Lightyear showpiece and some of the behind the scenes action. Since this attraction is meant to be a one of a kind experience you won’t want to miss out on any of it!
LightYear Party
The one big thing you need to do before heading over to the Lightyear Party is make sure you register for the event. That way, when you arrive you won’t have to stand around all afternoon waiting to go through security. There are also special spaces set aside just for guests who want to meet the cast of the movie. By the time you leave, you should have a pretty good idea of who you’re going to be meeting.
Once inside you are immediately greeted with what looks like a huge screen. That’s because this is one of the most popular attractions at the Hollywood Studios Theme Park. This means that if your kids aren’t lucky enough to be one of the lucky ones standing in line to get a Lightyear toy, they will at least get to watch the movie! While it is a great place for your family to spend time at, it is also one of the most crowded with people trying to get in. It’s highly recommended that you book your ticket well in advance of your visit.
It’s even easier than it sounds. Just go online to find the most amazing deals you’ll find. Keep in mind though, that there are going to be some things that aren’t included so make sure to include that price too. Once you’ve booked your room and made your payment all you have to do is let the Lightyear official down at the park know. Within a few hours you will be on your way to a wonderful surprise!
